TASTING

This wine, with its magnificent amber colour, develops aromas of gently tart dried figs mingled with hints of sweet spices, followed by more surprising notes of fresh liquorice. An astonishing finish with great persistence.

PERFECT MATCHES

This twenty-year-old wine reveals surprising youthful and fresh characteristics. It pairs well with blue cheeses such as Roquefort, or with desserts made with chocolate and dried fruit. Open one hour before serving and serve at 15°C.

PARCELS, GRAPE VARIETIES & TERROIR

90% Grenache Noir, 5% Maccabeu, 5% Carignan
Decomposed schist and black marl, south-facing. Soil maintenance by ploughing. The Grenache vines, trained using the gobelet method, are over 40 years old. The average yield is 18 hl/ha with planting densities of 3,500 to 4,000 vines/ha.

VINIFICATION & MATURING

Fortification on the skins followed by 30 days of maceration to extract the substance contained in the berries and achieve a balanced structure between fruit, alcohol and sugar.
Aged for one year in glass demijohns placed outside, then in 350 hl oak casks. This ageing process is the true signature of Mas Amiel.

Amber hued, this wine has an aromatic nose of dried fig, leather, caramel, toasted almonds and wet leaves. Additional falvors of yogurt and brioch emerge on the finish and with good concentration.
